The Lunenburg Primary School, consisting of preschool through grade 2, opened in July of 2005. This new building replaced the 'old' Primary School built in 1929 and was located in the center of town. The 'old' Primary School housed preschool and kindergarten students only. A formal dedication and open house was held on October 15, 2005.
The Lunenburg Primary School is a beautifully designed facility, with a full size gymnasium, cafeteria, and glass enclosed media center. It currently has two preschool classes, both full and half day kindergarten, six first grades, and six second grade classes. We offer an Extended Day Program at a nominal rate, designed to provide support to parents both before school, during school for preschool and half day kindergarten children, and after school. In addition to grade level classrooms, our art room, music room, and technology lab provide the most up to date facilities available to students.
During the opening year, the entire student body was included in an art project. Every child and adult designed and painted three tiles which were mounted on the atrium wall forming a rainbow effect. Mrs. Linda Widstrand, local artist and parent, coordinated this project.
